Bereavement Support Weekends

Knock - A Place of Peace and Renewal

Set in the heart of Knock Shrine, Knock House Hotel provides the ideal environment for this tender and restorative weekend. Surrounded by quiet gardens, sacred spaces, and the soft rhythm of Knock village, it is a place where you can truly pause, breathe, and begin to heal.

Whether you choose to share your story or simply rest in the silence, this weekend offers the reassurance that you are not alone—and that even in grief, there is light to be found.

Finding Light in Loss

A two-night reflective and restorative break for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Held in the peaceful setting of Knock House Hotel, this weekend offers quiet companionship, gentle guidance, and space for healing.

Grief affects each of us differently, but no one needs to carry it alone. This special weekend in Knock offers a safe, supportive environment to rest, reflect, and connect with others who understand the journey of loss. Through gentle conversation, shared silence, and the sacred surroundings of Knock Shrine, we hope to bring comfort, hope, and a renewed sense of peace.

The Bereavement Break is facilitated by Monica Morley, an experienced pastoral worker, broadcaster, and Director of the Knock Family Life Centre.

Monica is well-known to many through her long-running Midwest Radio programme, Faith Alive, where she explores themes of spirituality, hope, and community each week. Her work is deeply rooted in compassion, faith, and a heartfelt understanding of the human experience.

Through her many years of ministry, Monica has supported individuals and families at different stages of life and loss. Her recent programme, Understanding Grief and Loss – A Journey of Healing, held at Knock Shrine, offered structured yet gentle support for those navigating bereavement.

Monica’s approach is both empathetic and empowering—she offers a listening presence rather than instruction, guiding participants toward their own sense of peace and understanding.

Whether through her work at Knock, her radio broadcasting or her public seminars and talks, Monica is recognised for her warmth, sincerity, and ability to hold space for others with grace and authenticity.

The Bereavement Support Weekend at Knock House Hotel—titled Finding Light in Loss—is a gentle, restorative retreat designed to help you find calm, clarity, and connection amid the experience of grief.

The programme is built around the understanding that grief is deeply personal and unpredictable. There is no “right” way to grieve, nor one single path toward healing. Over the course of two days, participants are invited to engage at their own pace, choosing what feels right in each moment.

The weekend includes:

  • Two Nights Accommodation
  • A Full Irish Breakfast each morning
  • Dinner each evening
  • Optional reflective workshops and group sessions – for those who wish to share or explore their experience
  • Quiet times for rest, prayer, or solitude
  • Gentle walks and open space for personal reflection in the tranquil grounds of Knock Shrine
  • Moments of companionship and shared understanding with others on a similar journey

The rhythm of the weekend allows for both silence and sharing, balancing guided activities with generous free time to simply “be.” You may find comfort in quiet reflection, gentle movement, or stillness—whatever brings you peace.

* NO Single Supplement charge.

During this compassionate and reflective weekend, participants are gently guided through themes that illuminate the journey of grief and healing.

Understanding Grief and Loss
The weekend begins by acknowledging grief as a natural response to loss. We explore how it affects us emotionally, physically, and spiritually, helping participants see their experience as valid and deeply human.

Living with the Fallout of Grief
Loss often changes how we see the world and ourselves. It can affect sleep, focus, and relationships. Sessions offer simple tools and gentle guidance for coping day to day, showing that healing means living with love and memory side by side.

Finding Support Along the Way
Grief can feel isolating, but support is near. The programme highlights emotional and practical help — from counselling to community connections — encouraging participants to find what feels right. Accepting help is an act of courage.

Rituals that Bring Us Through Grief
Rituals, spiritual or personal, express love and remembrance when words fall short. Participants may create their own — lighting a candle, walking in nature, prayer, journaling, or sharing a memory. These small acts help healing and remind us that love endures beyond loss.

This weekend is not about moving on, but moving forward with compassion, hope, and continued connection to those we love.
