The interior of the Apparition Chapel

The Aparition Chapel at Knock Shrine

Step into the heartwarming embrace of the Apparition Chapel, where history and serenity intertwine. Nestled within this sacred space is the original gable wall of the Parish Church, bearing witness to the awe-inspiring Apparition of 1879. As you enter, you'll feel an immediate sense of tranquility, making it a perfect haven for moments of deep reflection and heartfelt prayer.

Gaze upon the beautifully preserved gable wall, adorned with exquisite Carrara marble carvings. Our Lady stands gracefully, flanked by St. Joseph on her right and St. John the Evangelist on her left. At the chapel's heart, the Lamb rests on an altar, encircled by intricately carved angels. Every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to mirror the Apparition, just as the witnesses described. These masterpieces, brought to life by the talented Professor Lorenzo Ferri in Italy in 1960, made their journey to Knock, carrying with them tales of devotion and artistry.

Adding to the chapel's rich tapestry of history, Pope John Paul II blessed these very statues during his visit to Knock Shrine in September 1979. And in a touching moment of reverence, Pope Francis paused for quiet prayer at this very site during his Irish visit in August 2018.

For those seeking solace or a moment with their thoughts, the Apparition Chapel warmly welcomes you for private prayer daily, from 8am to 9pm. Come, be a part of this timeless tale of faith and history.
